    Our LFS had a small one a few months ago for $100. Seen them at a few other places but the prices vary greatly. Its a beautiful fish and not something you see every day but $1000 seems like robbery.

    it isnt that cool looking...rare is fine and all but it also has to look cool. 1000s of rare fish that look cool after all. it might be a picture quality thing though...

    Black tangs are rare, but not $1,000 per fish rare IMO. I've seen one for like $600 before. Not even that pretty, really, they're a bit drab I think.

    Its definitely a beautiful tang, however that price is ridiculous.... I personally would never take the risk of buying a fish for that much... and then he gets the itch? What a nightmare that would be...
