That guy is awsome! I saw his site a while back with his worm problem...

O man, his tank looks so great, realistic hah...so many ricordia! Though replacing his sand all the time must be a challenge.

There's reasons why Steve does this but I don't have time to discuss it all right now. Go to the sand forum and read the DSB vs BB thread stickied to the top.

What I'm about to tell you is going to make you very sad but I assure you, there's a happy ending. Within the last month and a half, the tank crashed and most everything died. :( Steve cleaned out his skimmer and then got an emergency call and he had to go to work for 14 hours straight. When he finally got home, his skimmer had dumped about 200 gallons of water down the drain in the garage. He panicked because he obviously didn't have 200 gallons of RO/DI water sitting around so he added some de-chlorinator to tap water and put it in the system. Unfortunately, the de-chlorinator was so old that it didn't work and he ended up putting a whole bunch of chlorine into his system and that's why it crashed.

Where's the good news? Ok, years ago, Steve fragged just about every coral he had to help some of my friends from Seattle in a reef club called PSAS (both Szidls and OmarD are in this club). When news of this tragedy reached Seattle, people who had his frags (which are now large colonies) offered to give him back frags and colonies from his own tank. Yep, he's getting back genetic clones of the corals he originally had. See, being a nice guy is paying off after all. ;D

I've communicated with him and he's in good spirits. Whenever something is bugging him about the reef tank, he spends a little more time playing with his coldwater reef which is equally impressive. Coldwater Reef

Oh NO! wow, what is he going to do now? They need a tank insurance. You pay like reg insurance and it covers things like this, wow! thats really sad, but cool with the frag thing.

Very cool! When I win the lottery and can afford the electric bill I'm gonna hire him to build me a similar tank!
