Good morning, Last week i paid a visit to one of my local LFS's and found a wrasse that was tempting to add to my tank. The concerning part was that there are reef safe and non reef safe wrasse. To me this means that they are going to be picking on my corals. I know Ive herd that they eat shrimp and you cant keep them in the same tank. So anyways thats what Ive heard. So i went to my LFS and saw this fish. I was going to get him but before i did i went to my laptop and did some research and found out that he is not reef safe. I went in and showed my LFS what i found out and he said that they are all classified like that because they eat your shrimp. He said they are friendly to the other tank mates and wont pick on your coral. I wanted to do a little more research so here i am asking your guys what you think.

Here is a picture of the one i want to buy.

I had a Formosan Coris Wrasse in a fowlr tank before and he did go after and pick at snails and hermit crabs. They are both very good at flipping over small rocks and loose corals in your tank when they are foraging for food-which seems like ALL THE TIME.They will eat any shrimp or crabs you have in your tank also.I wouldn't do it if I were you but that is soley up to you.Just my experience and my $.02

yeas it is nice. They like to dig them selves in deep sand beds. Thanks for your 2 cents.

The scotts fairy wrasse is a pretty peaceful fish, needs a pretty decent sized tank however for its size. Ive had great luck with my Christmas wrasse and leopard wrasse. They dont bother a single invert at least that I can see!

As for the Coris Wrasse. I havent heard to much about them, One of our LFS had a huge one, We were lucky enough to be there around closing time and Got to see it dive into the sand. Man that tank was a disaster.

i've had really good experiences with yellow coris wrasse, no issues with picking on coral, shrimps or any other invert. very very peaceful relaxed fish!

mine was a very active fish, only hid in substrate when the lights went out. Mine is a swimming buddy of my foxface...they follow eachother around everywhere

All good ideas. I like the christmas wrass and the fairy. they are all good. I actualy like the idea of him geting into the sand bed. I dont have many corals now and most the rocks in my tank are large and fixed. hopefully wont send any tumbling down.

Tell you the truth, I have more of a problem rite now tith my long spine sea urchin eating my corals. Dallas tx anyone want one cheap.
