Wrasse Feeding

I have what the LFS called a 'wrangly wrasse'. Ive read on the forums that wrasse need to be fed 2-3 times per day, which isnt a problem in the morning before I go to work but when I come home the wrasse is usually sleeping in the sand. Should I just add the krill to the tank and hope it wakes him up? What kind of long term effects if the wrasse decides never to eat the second time around?

 

it depends, I've never heard of a "wrangly wrasse", can ya post a pic? I'd ask a question on evolved's thread, he's hte Yoda to wrasse

But if you're tank is old and has a good pod population, I wouldn't worry much about it, I have 3 wrasses and don't feed 2-3 times a day every day, and they are all fine but I have a big pod population so they eat them alot.

I just got him yesterday and he was hiding in the sand all lastnight. Today he was out and about all day but I was at work. Ill try posting a picture by tomorrow.

 

look up the wrasse's on liveaquaria.com and try to figure out what ya have!

 

It looks like a six-line wrasse, but the colors of the stripes are reversed and he doesn't have a green tail or a stripe through the eye.

 

Ill have to take a better look, my visual memory is terrible. Tomorrow ill snap a picture.

 

If it sleeps in the SB it is not a sixline or a 4 line.Several species of wrasses sleep in the SB though and it is completely normal.Most fish do fine eating once a day.

 

the two that I have had in my tank for a few months now arnt realy pick on food and I try to feed pellets, nori, flakes and frozen.

I also try to feed 2 times a day with frozen then supplement with pellets or flakes, taking the thread advice.
