Hey everybody :) On wednesday I added a longnose butterflyfish to my 75G and pretty much since then my royal pencil wrasse has been coming out less and less. The last time I saw him was 2 days ago, and when he came out, my melanaris wrasse started chasing him around, causing the pencil wrasse to dive back into the sand bed. What could be going on with my pencil wrasse, Iv had him for over a month and ever since I added the butterfly, hes been hiding.
P.S. usually he comes out when I feed the tank, but when I fed yesterday he never came out. What could be going on?

Pencil wrasses are extremely shy and stress very easily. If you have a fish forcing him into hiding (and it sounds like you have 2 of those), he will not survive.

The only solution is to remove the aggressor(s), or re-home the pencil wrasse.

Iv actually planned on catching my melanaris and donating him to my local aquarium. He is the only fish causing issues. Do you know how long a pencil wrasse could go without coming out and eating? How long could he survive? thanks :)

Depends on what he succumbs to first; starvation or stress. It'd take 2-3 weeks for starvation to win, but a few hours of stress is usually all it takes.
