I had a fairy wrasse jump 8 inches into my eel's tank from my reef tank. he jumped 5 times before he finally died. My cat was always the one to let me know because he would come get me and lead me back to him. Any wrasse i would have SOMETHING over the tank

might just go get a piece of acrylic and drill a hole bunch of 1/4 to 1/2 inch holes in it. that will give you air flow and not block much light?

Window screen blocks a lot of light. Eggcrate doesn't block nearly as much since it has larger holes and is white so it reflects the light instead of absorbing it. Removing the eggcrate won't make that much of a difference and the little bit of light it does block is not worth the risk IMO.

well I will say....a fish CAN jump through the egg crate. I had a blue spot jaw go carpet diving once. So it can be done. I had every crook and cranny of the top of the tank covered wiht egg crate and it got out still. Made the "perfect" fatal jump!

I have glass tops on my tank and everything is fine. I have a mystery wrasse and would not fathom risking it to jump.
