so I was looking at one in the LFS I found in madison FL (if you are close they arent really big but quality is surpurb ;D) and I saw a yellow tang about 3.5 inches from top to bottom not really full grow yet, and just was wondering what the though of having one in a 75 gallon.

    deminsions would be 48x18x21

when it is all said and dine the tank full would have:
    2 false percs- own
    2 fire fish
    1 tail spot goby
    1 manderin
3 Ignitus Anthias (in the works but not definate)
1 long fin fairy wrasse- own

IMO fine to me, it would work. Some Tang police may say different but its to your specs. :fish:

I say go for it! as long as its not a tall tank the tang will have some swimming room to go back and forth

IMO, It is a HORRIBLE idea. Literally, not really a great decision at all.......

That being said, it's close, and I have an almost exact situation. 90g with YT and similar stocking, and I've been fine. He did get Ich when I first got him, and yours prob will too. Make sure you get the right foods, selcon, seaweed etc, or be ready for Ich GUARANTEED! Read up on Ich anyways, with him in the tank, good chance you'll get an outbreak. BUT, lol, it can be done, as witnessed by me. But spend the money on the food and vitamins.

    To rehash:
Bad idea, but if done, read, study, and buy what you need;) Ends up being a pricey fish when all is said and done;)

LOL good thing I have a UV light :p

since you have one in roughhly the same sized tank how do you feel it has done?

do you fell it has the quality it needs and requires?

is the personality worth the work?

not 100% on getting it but it has been in there store 2 weekd with no ich and eating fairly well. also I picked up a broad range of frozen food and nori as well as a hufa supplement ;D i am preparing for the future stock up

I think alot of concerns when keeping a tang in a border-line sized tank is your aquascape. I took out one rock (albeiet 20-30 pound rock) which opened my scape up a good bit and low and behold, my tomani tang is finally swimming in the open. In the past 8 months he has been a back of the rockwork/seldom in the open fish due to his small stature and my Lavender tang.
LOTS of open space plus room to hide, Its tough to accomplish in a 75g.

Also I have 3 tangs, 2 wrasse, a clown, dotty, damsel, and firefish in my 125g. 9 Fish to your 12 so if you have your heart set on a tang I recommend you lower your bioload.

Selcon works miracles as a appetite enhancer and fortifying their immune systems. I see alot of yellow tangs with HLLE and I have one tang that is susceptible and selcon turned it around in a couple weeks.
    I kept a kole tang in a 55g.

I agree compleatly with this just because the anthis might be more work than what I expected so they might be removed from this equation and a wrasse of smaller size and only one put in this place or not filled at all which would make 9 total?

I have alot of swiming room in this tank only because I have a rock wall and a real open sand bed and swiming area for the anthis that I might not have the capibility to provide for now that I have read alot into the care.

on a side note are all tanngs this difficult or just this one? and is there a subsitute for intrest and that might be more comfertable in my tank?
