I dont see a problem with keeping a small yellow tang in a 75. It will need to be placed in a bigger tank when It reaches adult size so if you dont like the idea of having to either upgrade your tank or find the guy a new home then I wouldnt do it. Also, Yellow tangs are pretty hardy when it comes to tangs. I never had a problem with ich on my yellow tang. We have more problems with powder blue tangs at the store I work. I have a small yellow in my 65g. He's been in there about a year and he is just now getting big enough for me to relocate to a bigger tank.

Just my 2 cents. I understand why people get heated over keeping tangs in less than ideal tank sizes, but If I were a tang, I would rather be in a 75g with really clean water than a 300 gallon with nasty water. And working at a LFS I test water everyday, and to put it simply it disgusts me how many people have horrible water parameters.

the more I look into it the more a wrasse seemd to fit better in my tank, not giving up on the tang dream but just postponing for a bit ;D

Flashers/Tamarins/Leopards - IME are more docile when kept in their solos pairs trios etc

Fairies and Halios are more feisty with other wrasses.
