Next week i plan on ordering another wrasse, i plan on getting a male and female red margin fairy wrasse. The site has both in stock, i really want a pair but they only have them singly.

When wrasses pair off are they kind of like clowns, they will fight for a while until they figure out whose who? Both wrasses look like they will be the same size, only size they offer is 3-4". These fish are kind of expensive so i dont want something to go terribly wrong with buying a male and female that arent paired yet

but do you think it will be ok to do and that they will work things out like clowns do? Or should i just buy the male.

also p.s. i have to spend at least $150 and i didnt like any other fish so thats why i decided to maybe just go ahead and get a male and female red margin

You could always get two females and wait for one to turn male. Would be fun to watch!

exactamundo!!! I know a lot of people do that because it's cheaper, and it's a lot of fun to watch the transformation.

hmmm i may have to do that. I worry about a lot of fighting but if i were to get a male and female there would still be a chance that the male could turn female if their the same size, then the original male colors would dull out *i think* so getting two females maybe the smarter way to do it

Yeah, when I was looking at a pair of bellus angels, my LFS guy told me to buy two females and have one turn male because it's such a cool experience. It can take months though, so you have to be patient.

Why dont you think about using that money to buy an inexpensive piece of furniture and a tank to make a sump out of and place it next to your tank while keeping it hidden from daily sight.. it can be done..

sorry I dont want to come off rash, but I think this upgrade could help your system incredibly. Think about the plus side, more volume, more stability, place to hide the equipment, and you could have more fish in the long run.

Its just my opinion, and I think it would do way more help than harm..

i have deffiently thought about doing that but theres no room for a sump next to the tank because i have my puffer's tank next to the reef and i cant put a sump in his stand either and the other side of the tank is next to a wall so no room :( i just wish i knew about sumps when i first started out, i would have bought a different stand
