Well, I absolutely LOVE wrasses, but I am concerned that my 37 gallon tank isn't big enough. What do you guys think?

I think the minimum for most of the wrasses is 55 - and based on personal experience, carpenter flasher and leopard, mine really zip around. Maybe others will have another opinion.

I have seen them in smaller tanks, just not sure if it is an ideal environment.

That's why I'm confused. When I researched online I saw that wrasses need a minimum of 50 to 55 gallons. But both local saltwater fish stores told me I could have one...so I'm conflicted! I would not want to get one and have it be stressed-out.

IMHO, it is always better to err on the side of caution. When I say they zip, I mean so fast the carpenter's wrasse is merely a pink blur.....

How well do you trust your LFS? What is their experience level? Some employees are better than others. My LFS has over 20 years experience and the employees are marine biology students.....

A few guys in our local club got good deals on harems of 3+ Hawaiian flame wrasses. While they are a neat fish, IMHO, they are not worth the 200+ that these go for usually.

I could have gotten a harem of 1 male and 2 females for 80 dollars.

IMHO, there are a lot nicer looking wrasses...for less $$

Radiant wrasses being one of them. for asbout the same $$ a rhombus or a lineatus wrasse are by far the pinnacle of wrasses.

Okay, I absolutely LOVE lineatus wrasses, but they are waaaaay too pricey for me! Since I'm new to the hobby, I don't want to spend over $70 on a fish.

What about a tono fairy wrasse? Beautiful!

id skip the wrasse, IMO they need at least a four foot tank as they LOVE to swim around. I think the firefish would be perfect for you tank, as well as bringing a lot of life as they are VERY colorful and for the most part stay out in the open after they get used to the tank.

I am big on the firefish idea. I really want something that swims a lot, which is why I was thinking wrasse in the first place. I want a big swimmer because currently 3 of my 4 fish all want to swim and hover in the same area, which makes them have mini squabbles and stresses me out!

So I want a fish that won't just hang out in the same area but will swim throughout the entire tank.

If you must have a wrasse get a six line they are very active and stay on the small side. They also eat flatworms so you wont ever have to worry about that!
