I have some xenia I purchased a few weeks ago. It was attached to a small piece of rock and about the size of a baseball.. I placed it close to another (big) rock for a few days then decided to move it in the aquarium. When move I noticed it had a small (very small dime size) had attached to the big rock and ripped off when I moved the main piece.. I thought, cool maybe it will live.....

Well, it is now 2 weeks later and is almost the size of the original colony... Wow is it growing fast but here is the question.. How do I controll it when it gets as big as I want? The big rock the small (now big) piece attached itself to is part of the main aquascape and I am afraid I will not be able to get the xenia off of it when it gets to big..

You're prob right about that. Xenia can become a problem coral in some tanks. If you're not gonna want it to get big there, i'd get it off now. I'd take the rock out, scrape it off, and make sure you get it all or it will grow back. I placed mine in a long flat rock and every time it tries to grow off I just cut that piece back.

Another option is to surround it with a coral that has a more powerful sting and grows slower.

Probably not a bad idea with the exception of not knowing the "CHain of stinging command" ;)

However, I am planning to go to the Nashville frag show this Saturday so I would have great chance to get something...
