    There's your problem then. Those test strips are totally unreliable! No good at all :( Feel free to make a thread on Test Strips for testing SW. You'll see what I mean ;)

    that pisses me off you get sold something being told its good. I also use api liquid test and its the same (nearly) only a sight difference, but my lfs says that my kh is fine at 240 if my ph is stable this is so confusing so my opinions and every one of them is different

    Could salinity be a factor? I hadnt tested in a few days and it was a 1.029!! I try to keep it at 1.024

    Here's a great chart/info for you to better understand the relationship between Specific Gravity and Salinity. 1 question for you first though. Are you topping off with just ro/di water or salt water?

    I found the problem my salinity was High I had it tested at lfs they sold me a hydrometer and me being new not knowing any better bought it. they said thats what I needed they now tell me I should get a refractor I think its called... ugh

    Again new so here is my rookie mistake, I forgot salt doesnt evaporate, so I topped off with salt, so today I added about 5-10% of fresh water to the tank to start lowering the salinity.
