I've had a nice piece of pulsing Xenia (about 10 heads) in my tank for about 5 months. It has grown like a weed since I put it in. I have not moved it from where I initially placed it. About a week ago one of its heads turned white and basically dissolved. I removed the head with a clean razor and this week another head has followed suit.

Should I just toss the whole thing? Is this any indication of bad water params or does Xenia just go belly up for no good reason? My last wave of tests was fine, including CA, ALK, MG, etc.

    Thanks,

Xenia seems to be a strange coral, for many, it grows like crazy and literally takes over the tank, while for others, it dies. I'm sorry i'm not much more help. I would leave it in though and see how it does.

Yes, I've read in some places, just wanted to make sure I don't need to worry that it's suddenly dying. Everything else in my tank is fine, numerous corals/fish. I guess it's just it's time to go to the big reef in the sky.

If it's been in there for 5months, then it's not shock from just introducing it. It could be pissed off for some reason. It should regrow quickly.

...unexpectedly too. Like it'll dissolve, you might think you're xenia free and then 2 months later after you've moved rock around you get a #*&^ new sprout of it ::)
