Ok I have been trying to get rid of most my softies so i can go lps/sps and get a little harder slower growing stuff.. I set up the tanks at my lfs, we have a nice little trade set up going... The only prob is all my xenia frags keep melting they turn kinda yellow and just poof gone in like 2 days.. Also kenya trees, weirdest thing the little frags do great the mother colony just melted got it back and it came back within a couple days in my tank? Everything else is fine mushrooms, rics, zoas, gsp.. I really dont care since I get my cut either way but hate to see these corals dying. Anybody have any ideas? Lighting is mh/vho on his tanks but put everything on the bottom.. Me and him both at a loss right now.. lol he has favites and some birdnest that are doing fine in the same tank along with the rest of my frags.. Thanks for any input;D

Nothing in the tank but a few lps and sps we put the softies on the bottom away from everything.. Params are 1.025sg, ph is 8.3, alk 9 dkh, temp 79-80, calc 415, amm 0, trite 0, trate 5.. The lights are 2 metal halides with 2 vhos no idea how many watts or even what kind of bulbs it was his little diy thing... Mabye try them under 2 t-5s? thanks for input=)

+1 with to much lighting. Do you have an over-hang they can take shelter under?

That is most likely too much light for them. They would at least have to be on the very bottom or in shade if possible.

Thanks, will def try to get them in the shade and see what happens.. They are on the very bottom of a 55 and the halides are hung about 4-5" above the tank.. Will throw a test frag under a over hang and see what happens. =)
