    Hi guys...

This was my second attempt at Xenia. I got it for free with a purchase today and after I glued it onto a rock it seemed to have just turned a shade of gray and...it pretty much looks dead.

The last time I bought pulsing Xenia it died rather quickly as well.

What amd I doing wrong?! The zoas, buttton polyps, and mushrooms are all doing great!

Here's what the Xenia currently looks like 30 minutes after being in the tank:

    :bigcry:

    Tank:
34 Gallon Solana w/ protein skimmer and 2 power heads

    Params are :
    Salinity - 1.02555
    Alkaline - 2.8-3.0, so it's a bit high
    Calcium level - 420
    pH -8.3
    Phosphate - 0.5
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - either between 0-2
    Temp - 80

I've never used glue for xenia frags.

I've read it online- a few times. How would you have attached them otherwise?

I use a bridal vale or even a net of some type, put the xenia down on the plug or rock and put the net over it(with a rubber band) for a few days until it attaches.

I've used toothpicks, cocktail swords, bridal veil, rubberband and, the covered tub in rubble.

I have used super glue on Pulsing Pom Pom Xenia two times now. Both times with success, no issues.

They did look like in your picture for a while (a day maybe) but have since perked up and are now spreading.

Wouldn't worry about it until after a few days. Mine seem to like moderate flow.

(Have also superglued anthelia with success twice now)

I just got a frag of Xenia's this last Friday. I glued them and they are doing great!!!! I think they wilted up for about 10 hours then the next morning they were all out and moving. I even have some new little arms coming out now too.

Ok, so I overreacted. The Xenia looks fine! I'll take a picture when I get home tonight and post it. It actually got unhooked from the glue on the rock when I did a water change so I stuffed it in an empty hermit crab shell. It's opening up nicely. Hope it stays in the shell!

No worries man, I'm pretty new to the hobby and I overreact all the time. Sometimes my girlfriend wants to kill me because Im more worried about the tank looking at it all the time and she gets jealous :-/ I also have a pulse xenia and it looked like poop for about 1.5 days, now its thriving.
