    they like "dirty" water compared to other corals. when you have more nutrients in the water, they grow more.

    more feedings (for your fish) and more lighting.

    I have a 150w DE HQI and its right under it.. i feed once a day.

    Xenia is funny like that...It will grow like crazy in one tank, and then not in another. It grows like a weed in mine. I had to isolate one rock on the sand for it, so it would not take my whole reef. It grows anywhere I put it..Low light, High, no flow, lots of flow.

    Lucky..Ive only had it for a couple weeks now so i dont know how it will doo..Its not dead yet though! I have been able to keep it in all 3 of my tanks.

    I always felt that xenia were kind of a middle of the road coral IME. My main colony sits just about in the middle of the tank (hight wise) and is positioned off to the side (similar to the pic, nc posted) and it gets indirect water movement but you can clearly see it washing around from the current.
    One observation I made a while back was that the colony reseeded by about 15-20% in a matter of days after I did my monthly 15% wc. I'm not sure if there was a connection but i would think there was so they can be a little flaky at times. Good news was the colony was back to full size in about a month AND THEN SOME!

    Okay, thats exactly where i have it placed besides it being at the top of the tank! haha, but thats good that you got it back to good health!
