I may be an idiot! Well actually i know I'm an idiot, but this is hopefully too easy! I switched out a corner maxijet 400 gph, for another koralia 750 to "even out the tank! It definitely almost made more of a wavemaker type motion in the tank and alot less regular motion, now it gets hit a little then some motion then a period of calm! Thinks she's just pissed at the change of motion?

thanks for the help and words of "calm the heck down!lol" and sorry for forgetting probably the cause!

    thanks Nano,
I come from a strict FOWLR background so this dive into corals is testing my patience, or extreme lack thereof! i hate to see anything not make it in my tank, its a competetive thing! Although I have learned my coral banded shrimp really thinks pepermint shrimp are tasty, but alas, that is an easy problem to dagnose!

This just gave me an awesome idea. Cause now that you mention it, my Xens closed up when I added a new power head. I thought it was cause I tilted them too far downward at first and stirred up a lot of silt, but since they haven't recovered there's no other answer. They must not like the motion I introduced.

I'm gonna throw one in the Fuge for a bit, see how it responds. Call him my "Tester". Flow changes would explain a lot about how folks loose mass lots of Xens with out any real reason. As they grow, they themselves effect the flow in the tank. Like a kite in the wind.......

could work, but personally I say if its not getting any worse, but not getting any better fast, then let it be and adjust, cause soon as you put it back into the tank it'll do it all over most likely

We both agree there. That is why if this actually works, I'm going to leave it in there. I've heard of a "xenia scrubber" type system similar to algae scrubbers. The whole 'dirty water, low flow' thing would make this a perfect experiment.
