I have never known how people get so much xenia. People start off with like 3 or 4 stalks then it becomes a massive problem somehow. How do you get them to spread.

And some time. They take a little time to acclimate and take off but after that you will start to notice the problem.

less than perfect water conditions. If you skim heavy and keep feeding minimal, this stuff doesn't do too well

I thought this was gonna be how to stop my xenia from spreading or how to get rid of it.

You really dont want it to grow really fast. Unless you are like me when I first started and wanted big corals quick!!!

Sorta like having dandelions in your yard is the same as xenia in your reef.... IMO

xenia truly do become a problem..... Ive had to remove my rock and nuke it with muriatic so there was no possible chance of regrowing. It just spreads too quick in the right conditions and takes space where you want other corals to take.

This coral, unlike most others require a tad higher nitrate level..A bit of iodine as well....They grow like wildfire in our tanks

This makes complete sense. I tried to keep it in my sps tank and it was a "no go" and I'm guessing that's due to the absense of nutrients.

I have continuously had 0 nitrates in my tank for quite some time and that crap still grows like crazy. So i'm not sure what it really "requires" to thrive but it's getting it.
