Xenia Sucked!

Now that I have your attention... I had a pulsing Xenia frag that I got at a swap yesterday. Had it in my tank and it was pulsing already... great.

I started siphoning water out of the tank today with a hose... apparently the hose was straying one way while I was adjusting it in the bucket... and *thump*

Look up to find my Xenia and plug... plugged the end of the hose. It was the whole frag and it barely fit. I felt like an idiot...

I know Xenia is pretty hardy... but eh... I made it super angry as you can imagine... never even closed that much on the ride home in a plastic bag.

You think it will be okay?

 

Only time will tell, but it will probably be okay.

I couldn't kill my xenia if I tried. I removed it from my tank because it was just growing everywhere and I guess a few flesh spots remained on my rock. So now I have these spots with little hands growing and pulsing. *grabs a gun*

 

I've heard from quite a few people that it is pretty hardy. After it happened I moved it to a spot with a bit less flow so it has some time to recover. I felt so stupid... such a noob mistake. Ug...

Thanks for making me feel like it might stand a chance. My confidence was shattered.

I know a lot of people hate it. I may one day as well. As it is right now I like the movement since they pulse, well did. Ever since I started even thinking of getting a reef I wanted a bit of Pulsing Xenia. I finally get it and I try to kill it...

 

It'll be ok. I've accidentally gotten it with a baster before and ours is totally exposed to air when we do water changes & it always starts pulsing again really quickly.

 

My tiny stock was on some live rock i bought and it actually grew during the cycle. Haha you should be fine

 

lol, vawdka, ohh the lessons we learn, and the stupidity we do that amazes us!lol. I have way toooo many times i've done something like that.

My xenia has been very temperamental. she close up for 3 days if she doesn't like the movie i'm watching, then up and at it like nothing happened. If something happens and she doesn't make it, i'll frag mine and send ya some for just shipping! should be about $7!

But I have a feeling you'll be offering up some for free too before ya know it.

 

share the wealth haha ill take some xenia for my nano =) haha but im sure it will be fine, i watched someone do that exact thing to their xenia before and it came back out a day or 2

 

I did this same thing this past weekend! mine is doing fine came right out the next day! I dont think you can kill it.

 

Ya I saw those there at the swap on Sunday, they looked really cool!

I think they will bounce back, they are very hardy, mine are growing and pulsing like crazy! I see new growth on them every day!

BTW, the SLASH swap last Sunday was cool! Nice to see some of you there!

 

You got frags cosmo? I heard the stories, but I can't deny the fact that their very appealing, I would pay for shipping.
