I have someone near me selling healthy looking xenia frags for $5(he has too much and is looking to get rid of some) i have a 55 with a 2x65 w current sattelite fixture with 10k/460nm combo bulbs and was wondering if placed in the upper 1/2 of the tank if they would be alright with that kind of lighting by what i have been researching it seems like they would be alright but just might not grow as quickly(not necessarily a bad thing) however i would like to hear some personal input so what do you guys think

They will be fine with that lighting if placed higher in the tank. Keep in mind, however, that Xenia prefers "dirtier" water than most corals as they are filter-feeders. They have a tendency to melt away if nutrient levels fall too low.

What i have learned about having xenia is that the less power the light source, the slower it will pulse and grow..Not by a whole ton, but i can notice it..I have had it under PC,T5HO and now MH. It has grown the most under halide and is pulsing and the color is the best.

Keep the xenia as high up and possible and it will be fine.

I have xenia growing and pulsing in a hang on the back filter on my nano, which gets no light whatsoever....it will work in any tank and any light IMO.
