Just picked up a Xenia frag from my LFS. I accumulated it for an hour as soon as I got it in my tank they started pulsing like crazy. They charged me 16.99 for the frag.sorry the pic is not the greatest, camera has issues on small stuff.

Enjoy it! I like the Xenias a lot even though they grow like weeds LOL! I bought a 2-stalk frag and I had about 6 big stalks @ about the 2 week period after that.

yeah I usually do more but for some reason the person at the fish store only put about 2 cups of water in the bag(I even ask him to put more), so even with running airline on a drip to the bag from my tank it didn't take long to change the water out.

Is that supposed to mean it's too long or too short? i have ever only acclimated for about 1/2 hour to about 40min. Particularly for fish, I feel any longer is just stressing them out even more.

I think an hour is too long.

you know i think it really depends on the health/condition of the speciman in question... heck when i got my first niger trigger the guy told me to just dump him in the tank, i did just that and he was eating/moving around in a few minutes. never had a problem with him stressing out or anything. although i believe those are extremely hardy species, i would never reccomend anyone else doing this ;D

to get back to the subject, i acclimate all of my corals for at least an hour. i think corals can withstand longer acclimation and the chances of stress are much smaller. with a fish its different, there sitting in a small enclosed bag stressing like mad trying to escape, not that you should just dumd them in but it is more stressfull for a fish.

Hey if they can sit in a bag for hours.. they can acclimate for an hour. I acclimate for a bout that, and 1-2 hours later corals open up.. 30-40 min is good too.
