Thank you. At least the upgrade should happen tomorrow...as long as I can find everything I need right away. Was hoping to put a backing on it, but the vinyl costs about $8 a foot where I live. A vinyl back is not worth $32 to me and I dont want to paint the back either. O well...

Looking good ! What I did was cruise down to the acrylic place and had them cut me a piece of dark / black it fits between the trim and gives a nice clean background

Ps: it also makes it super easy to remove and clean !

Thank tank is no longer set up, but people say the same thing about the glass on my 75G. The background has a lot to do with it. It hides all the algae that is growing on the back. The only time I see algae is when it is coralline or I look from the sides at the back wall. As for the front and side, over filtration. I also did not feed any more than a cube of mysis every 2-3 days. I also stayed on top of any possible algae outbreaks by keeping an eye out for any algae besides the normal coralline, diatoms or greenish slime on the glass. If I saw bubble algae I would manually remove it. If I saw GHA, I would remove as much as I could and employ some blue-leg hermits and some other GHA eating CUC members.

My overflow also acted like a fuge. It always had GHA growing in it. I only trimmed it every so often.

I know I've said it before on the 75. I think you use magic. My tank is super clean, but doesn't look as "fake" as yours (you know what I mean? - I don't mean- heck, I'm sure you get me)

What do you mean by the red? Do you mean that you clean the back like you do the front and that it is blue? vs. letting coralline or what not grow on it?

I got sick of that ugly purple back-wall of mine and have been lettin GSP cover it (growin fast)... hoping to get a similar effect as 'clean back glass' once the GSP fills in - in this context of a "clean looking tank"... what do you think?

What do you mean my tank looks fake?!?!?!?!:furious3: I know what you mean.

Here is my magic: Best Aquarium Filter - ECO-Aqualizer * ;D

There is always algae on the back glass, but the blue background (blue vinyl placed on the outside of the back glass) does a good job of not allowing the algae growth to show. I clean the back glass once every few months. When I do clean it, you can see how dirty the glass actually is. I have noticed coralline doesn't grow on the back. I don't know why coralline doesn't grow on the back, but I don't mind. The sides always have coralline on them and I am constantly scraping it off. I prefer pink, purple, and red on my rocks and pumps than on my glass.

A friend of mine is putting the GSP on his overflow. I love the idea of GSP as a background. I think it will look awesome when the glass is completely covered. Personally, I would set up a powerhead or 2 aimed at the GSP just to get even more of a waving motion. However, what if you need to move the tank? I know I am already regretting putting some monti caps on my overflow on the 75. I had to drain the water to just above the caps and lost a lot of color due to it.

*I do not use this product because it is a scam. I do no recommend buying this product. This product is only mentioned as a joke.

    ** HA HA HA HA

Moving the tank... my thought on that is GSP is invincible. We are doing final modifications to a floorplan with our builder and, long story short, expect we'll be moving ~October 2011.

That move is just over an hour, will be a serious PITA, and will most likely be terrifying. But, honestly, my bet is the GSP will survive.

This tank will be going into a temporary spot as I have plans for an upgrade after we get settled in (expect a new Peredhil build thread in Spring 2012).

The way the new fish room is being designed in the floorplans this current 55 of mine will become a refugium a la PackLeaders 250 thread (if you remember that).

So, to answer that question in a roundabout way, eventually, this wall of GSP will be the wall of my display refugium.

I am very much looking forward to it. I am oh so bored with this 55. 8)
