I love having my fixtures shorter than the tank because it makes the tank look bigger. The lighting is plenty for what I enjoy keeping. I keep high light stuff towards the center and the lower light towards the ends of the tank.

I do wish the tek lights had LEDs in them. I will be adding some eventually.

    Thank for the kind compliments

That is an interesting thought... I'll keep this in mind myself on future builds.

In person does it look like the sides are dark noticeably or something only a coral could even tell?

No noticeable darkness. I have two anemones off to the side. The smallest one has doubled in size in about 2 weeks. The largest is new so I can't say how he is doing. All my SPS is growing well and has colored nicely. I would recommend this to most people. I love the look and everything gorws well and looks good.

Thank you, there is actually a thin layer of algae I don't clean off f the back. The background does an awesome job hiding the algae which makes cleaning easier with only 3 panes of glass as opposed to 4.

Awesome tank. What's the name of the moss-looking coral towards the bottom middle/right of the FTS, on the sand bed?

    Thank you.

green star polyps. They are a pain to place. I don't want a tank covered in them. They are actually growing under the rock as well.
