So I just got my first two little fish in my 55 gal finally, they are two yellow chromis, i got them at petco for 3 bucks each. I acclimated them together and one always chases and taunts the other  I really wish this wouldn't happen can anyone tell me if I could stop it some how?

Yes. You can keep them in separate tanks, or put one in the sump. Otherwise, the bully will eventually kill the weaker one. That's exactly what happened with my green chromis, which are actually schooling fish in the wild. :-/

When one of them is no longer there lol. I hear about chromis and damsels all the time. Its like thunderdome.

Or they can just work it out and everything will be ok after a couple days.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They will establish a dominance again, nature of the beast. Best to go with odd numbers, where one fish has multiple targets that tends to break up the aggression.

With Chromis and Damsel though unfortunately sometimes you just end up with one.

Exactly. There are several threads here regarding their "pecking order". It usually takes a large school in a very large tank to prevent it.
