I just got totally freaked. Logan Jr was on the side of my koralia 1 pump like if it was sucked to it. I thought he was dead. I immediatley powered it down and the little bugar took off. WOW talking about a scare!!!!!!!
All is good. Has anyone heard of a yellow tang doing this?

from my experience if a fish gets caught in a powerhead, there is usually some illness. fish dont just get caught unless they are weak. it may have something to do with it living in a 29 biocube. not large enough to sustain a yellow tang. they are grazers and need more live rock to forage.

Yeah I got suckered in by my lfs (rookie mistake). i am currently trying to get my 100 gallon going. It has been fighting an illness you can see a little on his top fin. but he actually looked like he was doing better. I am most likely going to take him back to the lfs if i cant get my tank up in a hurry but unfortunatley for me UPS lost my tank and we are in the process of getting my money back so i can purchase another one and then still it will be a month plus after the cycle. It is looking more like he will be going to lfs tomorrow. He will be missed

I have had perfectly healthy tangs get stuck on power filters. They seem to fine after removal. I think they get greedy about the algae growing on them and then get sucked on. With their flat bodies stuck, they can't get off. Mostly with smaller fish on large power filters. None has had any permanent damage.- Paul

logan jr is about 2 inches long and it has never happen before. I am almost at my 5-6 week mark of hyposalinity so I will start to bring my salinity up to its normal parameters (slowly). I can then go ahead and by my new CUC and let them do thier thing. Wow this was my first water change with ro/di unit and I can see my alage problem going away in the near future. I have had my light on for normal times the last 2 days without in signs of the algae coming on strong like it would before. My tap water had crazy phosphate levels.

While healthy may get stuck to powerheads as piezopaul has had experience, with, IMO for it to get stuck to a K1 would suggest something is wrong with it. K1s are pretty weak. Unless he kind of got pinned between the glass and powerhead in some manner.

no he didnt get pinned, he was on the side of it. He is still eating great and he ate a bunch of the green marine algae with natural garlic extract. He loves that stuff. He does seem to be bumped out. Not as lively as normal.

all my parameters look good accept my nitrate is 20 ppm which i am getting set to do another 20% water change to try and get that lower and to also bring up the salinity. I think he got stressed out a few days ago when i did a water change because i stirred up alot of sand and it was real cloudy for awhile. Probably pissed him off. I was trying to use this cheap vaccum pump to try and clean up the gravel which is why i think my nitrate spiked. ?????
