It depends on how aggressive it is, though. When I added my powder blue my yellow chased him around and around. They had a couple tail-swatting matches but it wasn't too serious. Nothing like what I have seen SOME fish do. It took about a day of light harassment and then all was well.

I had a bigger problem when I added my bartlett anthia this weekend. The powder blue was REALLY after that fish. As bad as a GSM would be to another clown. But the lights when off, everyone calmed down, and all was well the next day.

So again, how bad is the tail swatting and the chasing?

Give it the rest of the day and update later on. If this is what it is then it may be ok. My tangs did it, too.

Although I do agree that 2 tangs in anything less than 120 is not a good idea. You really should remove one.

They do not chase at all. I have yet to see them flying around the tank. The tail swatting isnt all that bad, iv seen worse and as we speak they are right next to each othere with no tail swatting just raised fins so that is getting better, a lot better than it was. Before if they even came close to eachother they started in.

Ok so i decided to catch the yellow tang due to they were getting at it pretty bad. I put it in my fuge for now. The question now is if i leave it in there for a week or 2 to let the powder blue settle in would it be ok to add the yellow back in or should i not chance it??

I wouldn't have taken the yellow out. Acanthurus tangs are very aggressive fish and if you let him settle in then GL adding the yellow back. This is a problem I'm currently having with my clown tang. All my other fish are huddled in a corner and the clown tang has 2/3 of the tank to himself and that stupid little damsel. At any rate, I'm taking the clown tang out because I like my other tangs more. Decide which one you want and take the other back if you can't handle the stress of one establishing dominance.

Well i can get over not having the yellow in there. I just didnt like the way they were startin to fight with my yellow fin nipping and what not and the blue minded his own business until the yellow would come over and start s***. And yes i know a 90 is kind of small for 2 tangs let alone 1 but i would like to up grade with in the next yr or 2. So theres prob no chance of putting the yellow back in once the powder blue has settled in ?? Or should i just give it a day instead of a week. i know i know im a PITA haha

Powder blues are fragile as it is. Between the stress of the yellow attacking it and then you going in there with a net I think enough is enough. If you don't want the PB to die from stress I would say take the yellow to an LFS. And if the prices for PBs in Denver speak for anything, then I doubt yours was very inexpensive, either.

Thats why i wanted the yellow out of there. The PB cost a lot more than the yellow and it had been 3 days of harrasment so enough was enough. I dont want the PB to die so thats why i took the yellow out. Just courious what are the prices out the for something like that. Mine was 60 after a 25% discount the store does on all fish.

$60 - $120 depending on the size. I got mine for $60 from a private seller, but would have been $120 in the store for the size mine is. Still, $60 for a fish is a lot, IMO.
