I feed my new yellow tang frozen brine shrimp cubes or formula 1 every day. I feed it twice a day and I usu half a cube of the new smaller cubes... I think this is enough because it floats all over the aquarium and the first time i gave a whole cube and the sand was filthy that night.

But anyways the tanf picks at almost everyhting acting like its looking for food... Does anyone elses tangs do this? Thanks

The yellow tang is a grazing fish with a diet of almost anything that is green (ie. algae, grass, lettuce...). It is not unheard of for the fish to eat meat. Even though this fish is generally an herbivore the tang has been known to eat shrimp and other smaller animals. I would say that your fish is just grazing on the algae in your tank.IMO I would cut back on the feeding of the frozen brine shrimp cubes as that is a lot of food.

It is a new smaller cube... Its about half the size of the kind this company used to sell... So I use half of that smaller cube.

Could I feed it lettuce? Thanks

You Can feed it frozen herbivore food that contains marine algae, and vegetarian items such as Spirulina, zucchini, broccoli, leaf lettuce, and dried seaweed. and It will also eat algae and vegetables such as spirulina, zucchini, broccoli, leaf lettuce, bok-choy, etc.

Formula 2 is better for Tangs than Formula 1.
    1 is for meat eaters.
    2 is for vegetarians.
