Ok so last night i came home from work and noticed my yellow tang stuck on the filter. The tang usually sleeps in the back towards the filter and i took him off of it and he just went about sleeping. This morning he looks to be doing ok but every where i read on the internet says he must be sick or dying. Is this true? Or was it possibly just because he was asleep and likes to float around in the back by the filter which may have caused him to get sucked on? I really hope he aint dying here is a pic of him i took this morning if you see any signs of illness... Also another question since i have had the tang when he swims everyonce in a while he like swims to side kind of like scratching an itch but in open water he is not scratchig against nothing, kind of hard to explain is this normal?

thats a crazy thin tang, you really need to feed him more. hungry fish=poor heath fish. keep them fat and happy.

sheets of nori, algea flakes, ect.

    does he graze the rocks?

Yeah he grazes the rocks and i feed him aqueon marine flakes every other day which my clowns eat as well. Is there a way to fatten him up? he doesnt seem to be getting fatter. well those nori or seaweed sheet help fatten him up? also will they affect water oarameters pretty bad?

+1 on the feeing, the guy looks a little thin. I would watch him carefully sounds like he might be a lillte weak due to getting stuck to the filter. Nori is very easy to feed, just put it on a clip and stick it to the glass in the tank, the Tang will do the rest. When I bought my Tang it was alittle thin, but has fatten up nicely. I feed mine the nori and Rods frozed food.

put the sheet of nori in in the morning, and itll be gone by dinner time. might take him a few days to relize its there. only leave the seaweed in for about 12 hours max, remove all uneatin food in the evening.

The scratching is prob an indication your tang has ich, although I don't see anything in the picture other than it is pretty skinny. Tangs are active fish, and prob need fed more than twice a day flake food. Def get the Nori sheets as suggested, I put about a 2x2" about 5 days a week, and its gone pretty quick. I'd suggest getting some selcon for that guy too. Soak the piece of Nori in the selcon for a bit, it'll help get his strength back up.

Get some frozen food like brine shrimp. Flakes really aren't a very good food source. I'd also feed them once a day with the frozen, and put the sheets in for the tang to make sure he starts getting enough food, as he's basically a skeleton.

Also, it's possible he has ick. You can only see it about a week a month - at the end of it's life cycle. Keep an eye out for it.

EDIT: And is that a LS1 formula or the V6?

While it is good to feed a variety Flake foods (depending on the kind) is a very good source of nutrition for most fish.I agree the Tang looks extremely skinny and a healthy fish would probably not get stuck to a filter. If it is scratching it may have Ich.If the fish is eating flake foods I would definitely get some algae flakes so it immediately gets the nutrition it needs as soon as possible.Nori sheets for the long term will help as well.

Look for some spirulina 20. That's what I feed my fish. I have a Sailfin Tang that don't like nori sheets. Also try feeding 3 small meals a day till your guy fattens up. Another thing you could do is get fresh seafood from the grocery store and blend it up with selcon, garlic, other frozen food (like mysis, cyclopeeze) then put it in a ziplock bag and freeze it. Feed small portions of that once a day and make it one of your 3 meals a day.

This is what I did when I got my little dude cause he was super thin as well.
