I just put in a new small green star polyp rock. My coral beauty is leaving it alone, but my yellow tang has been picking at them all day. The green stars havn't yet shown themselves, right now they are withdrawn into themselves. Is the tang eating them or just kind of exploring? Will this stop when they come out?

nothing is a garuentee in this hobby it might be eating it but i think its probably trying to pick at the stuff between the polyps and eat it.
eventually the polyps will come out.

Yeah, tangs have a tendency to munch on algae that might be on the coral or debris. My sailfin tang likes to eat unhealthy zoanthids, so I can't ever add any of my zoa frags to that tank until they are completely healthy. errr.
