Just added a yellow watchman and pistol shrimp combo to my 54 corner reef several days ago and aside from watching the pistol shrimp dig out a cave i have not seen either one since. is this a problem???? or will it take awhile for them to make an appearance?? any help with this would be appreciated

When I added mine to my fuge I didn't see the goby for a few days and the shrimp for a couple weeks... But I knew they were in there and alive because I saw plenty signs that they had been digging burrows.

The goby could easily have jumped if you don't have any sort of cover on your tank.

nothing....a couple of very small openings to peek through but nothing..i did notice some burrowing under one of my rocks but its in a tough place to see..i'm not so worried about the fish being dead more so that i'm hoping he dosen't establish a cave that i wont be able to see him in.

I wouldn't worry just yet.. I hear they can hide until they find a suitable hiding spot. Then they come out.
There was a person here in 3reef who's fish was hiding for like 3 weeks then it appeared out of no where.

ok..so i'll call off the search and rescue for the time being....the whole cover on the tank was a compromise, i'm willing to take the chance and see how it goes. the tank is not covered because of temp issues, crossing my fingers.

Actually our pistol and yellow watchman duo have vanished for a few days on multiple occassions. We used to get worried about it, but now if we don't see them for a day or two we don't worry at all. We just know that when they emerge again, they're gonna dig up our whole sand bed and cause a freakin sand storm

One thing though, our yellow watchman vanished for about 1.5 to 2 weeks straight. The odd thing was we could see and hear the pistol shrimp. We thought for sure the goby was dead. We were about to buy another goby for the shrimp, but then the yellow watchman just pops out one morning like nothing happened.
