Yellowstripe Anthias

Need some advice on these guys, I want to add 3 females and 1 male to my 90g reef tank. I was doing some reading, everywhere I turn to I keep come up on the same thing, 3 females to 1 male. And that they can be a hard fish to keep alive.
Anyone have some experience with them? Are they really hard to keep?

 

It's not that they're hard to keep, it's that they require ALOT of feeding. At least 3x a day and mostly frozen food so take that into consideration when/if you buy them.

 

Thanks bud, I think that alone puts them out, but man they are a nice looking fish. And not that expensive when compared to other anthias .

 

I'm a big fan of these fish too and was considering keeping some in our 180 but they're just too much work for me.

 

did you get any other kind of anthias?

 

All Anthias' require numerous feeding throughout the day...unfortunately, as they are some of the most spectacular and vibrant fish out there rivaling some of the Fairy and Flasher Wrasses, and some of the more brilliant Angels IMO!!!
The other thing is that some Anthias' are more hardy than others!!! I hate the fact that you have to have either a single specimen, or 1 male to 3 females or something along those lines-which leads you to believe that you are going to need a big tank of atleast 125 gallon tank or more for the success of the number of fish in your tank, their husbandry and compatability requirements.

No. Both Tangster and I are at work all day so feeding the fish 3x a day is not a possibility and "they" have yet to invent an automatic feeder for frozen foods

 

Its a pain feeding 3 times a day. I have to feed my Moorish Idol 3 times a day. Lucky for me that it loves flake food along with my other fish. Now I just bought a Powder Blue Tang that also needs to be fed 3 times a day and will have to get him to eat flake food as well. They are worth the trouble, but sometimes a say what did I get myself into.
