(yet another) need recommendation

I got an external Octopus Recirculating Protein Skimmer Model 200 for a year now but it doesn't skim much. Lot of trouble with it. Looking for a "normal" one that sit inside the sump.

I have a 125g DT in the living room and a 75g sump that sit in the basement. So noise is not a problem. I have read quite a bit of recommendation threads but most people are looking for a quiet one. I don't care about the noise. Just need one that perform well and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. What's good nowadays?

 

I just got a ASM G2 Skimmer good skimmer for the money and can be modded to get extra performance. But now a days the SWC skimmers are popular get a hold of swcskimmers.com and he can find you a good skimmer I know that the SWC 160 was pretty resonabley priced at 270 but that would be a little to small for you.

 

I read a few more reviews about SWC 160 Cone and they look great! I think i'm pretty much set on the SWC right now. Is there a next one up for the SWC 160? I only see another one that cost like $600+

My tank is quite heavy loaded (or it's gonna be anyway. ). What happen if I just go with the SWC 160? I just have to clean it more often?

 

Yea that is the downfall from what I remember anything above the swc 160 is pricey. As far as the size goes you want a larger skimmer so that it can skim water more effiently I wouldn't think that you can just keep the small skimmer on there.
