Out with the old, in with the new.

I ordered a new Ocea 110 (60x18x24 tall); it has a Cherry canopy and stand, and has dual overflows and returns. It should be delivered by next Saturday ;D This company has really started taking off, especially in this area. Prices are fantastic and the quality is top notch. I will have a black background on the tank.

For lighting I will be using 2 250W HQI pendants with Vertex electronic ballasts. I purchased a 48" ReefBrite LED bar today for Actinic lighting. If I like the 1st bar I will buy a second and mount one in front and one in back of the canopy. From tests one of the blue LED bars produces the equivalent of 2 ATI Blue+ T5's. It will be interesting to see how it looks - from pictures the colors are fantastic as well. Not worried at all about the 6" left on each end, the spread is fantastic from watching some videos :) The canopy will be cooled by (2) 2 fan Azoo clip ons, one on each side behind the pendants. I will be installing dimmable Lunar lights as well.

I will be using my existing AquaController Apex for the controller.

Temperature will be maintained by a 1/10 HP JBJ Arctica Titanium chiller.

Flow will be provided by 2 Vortech MP40w powerheads mounted on the back wall of the tank and synched. If 2 are not sufficient I will add a 3rd as needed.

Will be using (2) 250 watt heaters, just in case they are needed.

Sump is a 27 gallon long (36x12.5x13 tall) with Refugium. One drain from the tank will drain to the left to a 7" filter sock, flowing into the skimmer compartment, past a bubble trap, into the return section. The other tank overflow will flow directly into the refugium to drain into the middle return of the sump. I will be using an external return pump (Iwaki MD55 RLT) with a manifold to run my 2 reactors with carbon, GFO, Chemi-Pure elite, and Purigen. ATO will be controlled by my Apex and use a 10 gallon tank for ATO reservoir.

Sand is Fiji Pink (120 pounds); Rock is Marco Rock (Key Largo) - 100 pounds.

I will see how my i-Tech 100 performs on the slightly larger tank. Other folks in the club use the i-Tech 100 on 120 gallon systems with no issue so I think I may be able to get by with the 100. Otherwise I will upgrade to the i-Tech 200.

I'm going to drip Kalkwasser (Mrs. Wages pickling lime, actually) to keep levels stable.

Will post pics when the tank is delivered, and I start the build. :)

Very cool! Seems like a good runway for a tang or two :D... 5 feet is an odd lighting situation I do say, But cant be worse then a Corner tank LOL! Good thing you have a canopy! I cant wait to see it all come together with pics :D.

    Thanks!

2 pendants should do OK. It's only really about 6 inches on each side I may be short but it will still be illuminated. I don't plan to have rock all the way to the end of the tank. I plan to do 2 islands with an arch between them. I may add a 3rd pendant if I see it to be necessary.
