Found my temp has been getting too high, now I can control it accurately :D This will help everything. Have a fan kicking in now when the tank is over a certain temp, working nicely and keeping it under control. I think this was part of my problem with keeping SPS. I'm ordering the breakout box for my Apex so I will wire my float valves directly to it vs. using the relay I have in place now. This thing is pretty awesome, I really like it. If only it kept time.

I picked up a very nice Symphyllia multi-color brain coral today. This guy is like 7" x 7" - pretty large. Beautiful blue grey, green, and red colors. Picking up a pink devils hand coral tomorrow :) Also forgot to add I picked up a 10 polyp frag of stunning bright red with turquoise spot Acan frag the other day as well. Very pretty.

Ordering an ORP probe from BRS, and will start searching for an ozonator once I get the probe in place.

Sweet. Isn't it awesome how one piece of equipment inspires you to buy more.;D

I think I might try a couple of sticks. Don't know how long I can go on 2 part. I really do not want a calcium reactor. Hopefully this will give you more options and peace of mind when on the road.

It's never ending. I need an equipment closet for my tank ;D It's also pretty sweet to have a tank manager on your blackberry and be able to press a button on your cell phone and watch your skimmer turn off, or on, fans, etc. :cheesy:

I think next up will be an IP based webcam that will be plugged into one outlet on the controller. Linksys makes one that has an integrated webserver and no need for PC. I can then turn it on remotely to watch my tank and turn off as necessary. Haha, the ultimate geek-n-reef.

    Wow, that's cool.

So what beginner SPS would you suggest? My Montis are doing good. Looking to branch out.

I had some pink birdsnest that was actually doing very well- pink with purple polyps. Green slimers I've heard are easy. That and caps, but your caps are doing great :)

I just picked up a pocillopora today, beautiful pink, purple, green, bluish hue to it. Awesome coral - already fuzzy with all polyps open. Hopefully it survives, this is my test SPS :) If it's still doing good after a week, I'm getting some birdnest (love that coral), caps, and slimer.

Also picked up a blue and red St. Thomas bubble mushroom and a devils hand leather.

    Regarding the Apex.

I really, truly like the Apex controller. I really do. Overall, I'm not sure I could, with good conscience, recommend it to anybody however. My original EnergyBar 8 was bad out of box. It's now been determined that the Apex base unit is also bad and needs replaced due to a faulty battery - the unit cannot keep time after a power failure and must be reset. When the only good items you're left with is cables and a display, that's disheartening for a $470 purchase. Neptune has been good about replacements (new Apex on the way), but I shouldn't have to deal with this.

Maybe it's just new product bug workouts - others over on RC are having the same problem. Sucks.

I really do like what it is doing and is capable of doing for my tank though.
