So i have a 10 gallon tank sitting around... i have decided to make it a reef tank since my 90 gallon is a FOWLR. ;D all i have now is a penguin 200 biowheel filter and a heater. I would like to do a LED setup as well...

    questions!
What should i do for the led setup?
    Will black sand be okay?
Will i need a different filter?
and would a pair of black ice clowns be okay in it?

thanks, and I'm getting more excited every day ;D

    I would recommend boostled par30

    Black sand should be fine.

It sounds like a cool plan to me although,

I;ve heard mixed reviews on the biowheel being a nitrate factory so I'd read up on that and maybe try to mod it into a mini fuge.

I'm thinking most are gonna say thats too small for 2 clowns, but your close, IMO

    Love the black sand idea.

And I too think 2 par30's from boost would be great so you can get a good angle and spread depending on your scape. Maybe a couple of panorama pro's.

Following:) a couple par30s or a panorama pro would be cool. Or a DIY 12 led from rapidled.

    1. What's your budget on leds? What corals do you want?
    2. I have black sand in my reef, it should be fine.
    3. I would, try a big HOB with a chemi pure and a refugium.
    4. Sure
    HTH:)

i was leaning towards the biocube 14 solderless dimmable. it would be small enough.. but i don't know whether to do 2 drivers or 1.. and then how would i dim them and time them?

The 12 LED light is $40 cheaper.
